Community Resources

The current economic downturn has affected the entire nation, especially Michigan, and South Lansing.  The SLCDA has compiled a list of links to helpful resources and programs to make this trying time more bearable. 


Need a check up but don't have health insurance? Go to one of the federally funded free clinics around town for free medical care.  Visit the Health Resources and Services Administration to find the locations nearest you. 


New Eyes for the Needy provides vouchers for free eyeglasses to those who meet their requirements. 


The Angel Food Network offers boxes of food(enough food to feed a four (4) people for a week) for 25-30 dollars. They have several locations in the Lansing area.  The Berean Baptist Church is the only location on the south side of Lansing. 


The Mid-Michigan Food Bank offers food pantry services to those in need.

Michigan Energy Options offers free home energy assessments and improvements to Lansing residents who qualify through the City of Lansing Energy Fitness Program.  The site also contains helpful tips to improve your energy efficiency.
