Hawk Island County Park, South Lansing
Swim 400m ♦ Bike 16k ♦ Run 5k
This beginner-friendly multi-sport event is designed to welcome and encourage people of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities as they venture into the world of triathlon. It's also a great warm-up race for experienced athletes gearing up for the summer triathlon season.
Past participants have ranged in age from 9 to 76. In many cases, multiple generations of family members train and race together. To the extent possible, we will accommodate racers with special needs: a participant with multiple sclerosis walked the run course with balancing poles; an amputee started in the water (as opposed to on land); and visually impaired athletes have raced with guides.
The Hawk Island Triathlon is now the largest sprint triathlon in Michigan, and one of the most popular Midwest triathlons for beginners. But hey, don't take our word for it. Check out what our racers are saying:
"Loved the whole vibe of this race! Everyone is happy to be there."
"I was impressed with the sense of community around this race."
"I'm already training for another tri because my experience was so good with yours!"
"Everyone was so helpful and kind. What a great first experience!"
"This is a great race to open the season. See you next year."
